Coles to slash 2500 jobs

This week I spoke to Dyson's IGA Supermarket (Numurkah) staff about Scratch me Back before our official launch this Monday. So refreshing to see their enthusiasm and reminded me again of how important it is for a community to have a local supermarket. Really impressed with how IGA is going about their "local" emphasis. And their focus on customer service.

Then I noticed today in the Herald Sun how Coles is set to slash 2500 jobs after a huge increase in profits!!

COLES Myer has revealed plans to slash 2500 jobs as it announced an 82.4 per cent boost in profits to more than $1 billion today.....
“The strategy is about increasing the return from our existing store network, and creating new opportunities to grow our business ahead of the market through reinvigorated stores, the creation of SuperCentres, and a differentiated product offer,” Mr Fletcher said.

Typical.
It's all about servicing shareholders greed and forget about the local community. Less staff will mean less customer service and less giving back to the local community. Then we read of SuperCentres...good grief. Have you noticed now how few checkout operators are on in comparison to the number of checkouts...???

Why don't you vote with your feet and support your local supermarket. The one that supports the community. And while you are at it support your local small businesses.

And if Scratch me Back is in your town look for the orange flag and support those businesses to get fuel discounts better than the Coles miserly 4c off!

Eildon welcomes Scratch me Back

Sue Timmins of the Eildon Bakery Cafe invited Geoff to Eildon late last year to speak to the local tourism group. Unfortunately the local fuel outlet did not support the idea and it did not go ahead.
Just recently Fabio took over the local petrol station and was keen to use SmeB to reward local shoppers with significant fuel discounts when they support local businesses.
The Eildon Bakery Cafe and Eildon Meat Supply were the first two businesses to sign up.
SmeB Eildon commenced on September 1st September just in time for the trout season.

IGA and Scratch me Back

Scratch me Back is excited to sign its first supermarket and show Coles/Safeway how fuel discounts should be offered.
Dyson's IGA Supermarket in Numurkah has joined with Scratch me Back to further grow their market share. They will still continue to use their 4c off fuel deal when customers spend $30 but SmeB will be used as a incentive reward for customers who spend over $50.
The fact that SmeB cards can be added together will be very appealing to customers.
